Barbara Ackerman is a multidisciplinary artist, printmaker, and arts educator living in Bennington, Vermont. Barbara’s recent work includes printmaking explorations in monotype, collagraph, and photo emulsion etching techniques. She starts with imagery from the natural world and uses shapes that are familiar—patterns and colors that create a remembrance of an experience—connecting visible and invisible domains.
Barbara received a BS in Art Education from the University of Vermont where she studied painting with Frank Hewitt. She completed the MFA program at Northern Vermont University and the Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, Vermont.
Barbara is a member of Boston Printmakers International Association of Artists and a board member of Two Rivers Printmaking Studio, White River Junction, VT. She is also an exhibiting member of the Southern Vermont Art Center, Manchester, Vermont, The Current, Manchester, VT and an active member of the arts community in her home town of Bennington, VT.
